FCC Advisory Council Studying Changes in Noise Floor

The FCC's Technological Advisory Council, or TAC, has initiated a study of changes in the noise floor of the radio spectrum over the past 20 years. According to the ARRL Letter,  the study will be  an effort to quantify what many spectrum users perceive as a growing problem as the number of devices emitting radio energy grows, but for which there has been no concrete evidence to date.

Amateur radio is represented on the council by ARRL RF Safety Committee Chair Greg Lapin, N9GL. He co-chairs the group's Spectrum and Receiver Performance Working Group.
